Writing
I have always kept a journal to record my ideas and thoughts. I like to take it with me when I travel and sometimes something just inspires me to pull it out and start writing. I know that a lot of what I write would not make sense to anyone but me.
Once, I read Kurt Cobain's diary/journal and I was amazed by how graphic he was. It was a little freaky though reading some of his thoughts but it helped me understand his music and his life more.
Some of the thoughts on my pages are actually translated into song lyrics. I don't do it consciously it just happens.
My father and brother are writers too. Once in a while we dig out my dad's old poems and stories and I realize how complex he is.
In addition to writing music, I write poetry, and would love to write novels. Most of my poetry is about love and deep feelings that can only be expressed on paper. Sometimes I just write to get things off my chest. Eventually, I may post my writing on my website. I have turned one into a song and I had a short story published when I was 13. It was called "Our Father's Sons" and it was published in the 2004 Edition of "Anthology of Short Stories by Young Americans.
I'd also love to write for film and television I actually wrote a spec episode of "Welcome Back Kotter." I was obsessed with the show and would rent episodes all the time. In my episode, the class was learning about human anatomy and they decided that they wanted to see how a baby was delivered. They dressed up in nurses uniforms and snuck into a delivery room at a hospital. I'm sure I still have that somewhere..I'll have to dig it up.
